This calculator works out the two payments due at the end of a French fixed-term contract (CDD): the prime de précarité and the indemnité compensatrice de congés payés, following Service Public's pages and articles L1243-5 to L1243-12 and L1242-16 of the Code du travail.
The prime de précarité. Also called the indemnité de fin de contrat, it is at least 10% of the total gross pay received over the contract. It is not paid after gross misconduct, an early end at the employee's request, force majeure, or the refusal of a CDI offered at the end, nor for professionalisation, apprenticeship, seasonal, student and usage contracts unless the collective agreement says otherwise.
The leave indemnity. A CDD earns 2.5 jours ouvrables of paid leave a month, rounded up. Leave not taken by the end is paid at least 10% of the total gross pay, and the prime counts in that pay. If some leave was taken, the indemnity covers the remaining days in proportion.

The prime de précarité, or indemnité de fin de contrat, is at least 10% of the total gross pay received over the fixed-term contract, paid with the last salary. A six-month CDD paying €12,000 gross in total gives a prime of at least €1,200. A collective agreement or contract may give more.
Paid leave not taken by the end of the CDD is paid as an indemnité compensatrice of at least 10% of the total gross pay, and the prime de précarité counts in that pay. On €12,000 of pay and a €1,200 prime, with no leave taken, the indemnity is €1,320.
Yes. When the CDD continues as a CDI, no prime de précarité is due and the leave indemnity is not paid either: the employee keeps the leave days earned during the CDD and takes them later in the CDI. Refusing a CDI offered at the end also removes the prime.
Besides the last month's salary, a typical CDD ends with the prime de précarité and the leave indemnity. For €12,000 of gross pay over six months with no leave taken, that is €1,200 plus €1,320, so €2,520 gross before social contributions, in the solde de tout compte.
