The trattamento di fine rapporto (TFR) is the sum an Italian employer pays when any employment ends, however it ends. This calculator follows article 2120 of the civil code, as rewritten by article 1 of Law 297 of 29 May 1982, and article 3 of the same law, both read on Normattiva on 16 October 2026.
The yearly quota. For each year of service the TFR adds the pay due for that year divided by 13.5, about 7.41% of the pay. Part years count in proportion, and a part month of 15 days or more counts as a whole month. The pay is every non-occasional sum paid for the work, benefits in kind included; expense refunds are left out.
The 0.50% contribution. Article 3 of Law 297/1982 raised the pension contribution by 0.30% and 0.20% and lets the employer deduct it from the TFR quota. On €30,000 the quota is €2,222.22, and €2,072.22 after the €150 deduction.
The revaluation. On 31 December the fund already built up, without that year's quota, grows by 1.5% fixed plus 75% of the rise in ISTAT's consumer price index for blue- and white-collar households since the previous December. With 2% inflation the rate is 3%. Type the inflation you expect; for a final part year the calculator applies the rate in proportion to the months.
The result. The headline is the gross TFR. The table shows each year's revaluation, quota and the fund at the end of the year. With €30,000 a year for 10 years and 2% inflation the quotas add up to €20,722.22 and the revaluation to €3,033.48.
Not included. Pay rises, advances of up to 70% after eight years, TFR paid into a supplementary pension fund, and the tax withheld on the TFR and on its revaluation. An estimate, not legal advice.

The TFR adds, for each year of service, the year's pay divided by 13.5, less a 0.50% pension contribution. The fund already built up is revalued every 31 December at 1.5% plus 75% of ISTAT inflation. On €30,000 a year each quota is €2,072.22 after the deduction.
Article 2120 of the Italian civil code sets the yearly TFR quota at the pay due for the year divided by 13.5. The divisor makes each quota about 7.41% of the yearly pay, a little less than one month's pay for an employee paid thirteen times a year.
Every 31 December the TFR already built up, excluding the quota of that year, grows at 1.5% fixed plus 75% of the rise in ISTAT's FOI consumer price index since the previous December. With 2% inflation the rate is 3%; with zero inflation it is 1.5%.
Law 297 of 1982 raised the employer's pension contribution by 0.30% and then 0.20% of taxable pay, 0.50% in total, and allows the employer to deduct it from the TFR quota of the same period. On €30,000 of pay the deduction is €150 a year.
Unless a collective agreement says otherwise, every sum paid for the work on a non-occasional basis counts, including benefits in kind. Expense refunds do not count. During sickness or wage-supplement periods, the pay the employee would normally have earned is used instead of the lower amount.
An employee with at least eight years of service with the same employer may ask once for an advance of up to 70% of the TFR built up, for major medical costs or buying a first home. The advance is later subtracted from the final TFR. The calculator does not deduct advances.
