Every employer in Singapore pays CPF for citizens and permanent residents on top of their salary, and takes the employee's share out of it. This page works out both shares for one month from the CPF Board's rate tables in force from 1 January 2026, each step shown.
The rates. For a citizen, or a PR from the third year, the total is 37% of wages up to age 55: 20% from the employee and 17% from the employer. It falls in steps with age, to 34% above 55, 25% above 60, 16.5% above 65 and 12.5% above 70.
New permanent residents. In the first two years a PR pays graduated rates (Tables 2 and 3), or the full employer rate with a graduated employee rate (Tables 4 and 5) when both apply for it.
Low wages. On S$50 or less of total wages there is no CPF. Up to S$500 only the employer contributes. Between S$500 and S$750 the employee share phases in.
The ceilings. Ordinary Wages count up to S$8,000 a month. A bonus is an Additional Wage and counts up to the AW ceiling, S$102,000 less the Ordinary Wages subject to CPF for the year. The page assumes the same salary in every month and no earlier bonus.
Rounding. The CPF Board rounds the total to the nearest dollar and the employee share down; the employer pays the difference. The page follows the same steps, so its figures match a payslip.
Not included. The split into the Ordinary, Special and MediSave accounts, the public sector pensionable tables, voluntary top-ups and income tax. Foreigners on a work pass pay no CPF. An estimate from the published tables, not advice.

For a citizen or third-year PR aged 55 or under, the employer pays 17% of monthly wages on top of salary and the employee gives 20%, 37% in all. The employer's share falls with age: 16% above 55, 12.5% above 60, 9% above 65 and 7.5% above 70.
S$8,000 a month from 1 January 2026. Salary above that attracts no CPF, so the most a citizen aged 55 or under pays on salary is S$2,960 a month: S$1,600 from the employee and S$1,360 from the employer.
A bonus is an Additional Wage and attracts CPF at the same rates as salary, but only up to the AW ceiling: S$102,000 less the Ordinary Wages subject to CPF for the year. A S$5,000 monthly salary uses S$60,000, leaving S$42,000 of bonus that attracts CPF.
Yes, at graduated rates. In the first year a PR aged 55 or under pays 5% and the employer 4%; in the second year 15% and 9%. From the third year the full citizen rates apply. Employer and employee may jointly apply to pay higher rates earlier.
Below S$500 of total wages only the employer contributes, 17% for a worker aged 55 or under. Between S$500 and S$750 the employee share phases in at 0.6 times the wages above S$500, and on S$50 or less no CPF is due at all.
The total contribution is rounded to the nearest dollar, with 50 cents and above going up. The employee share is rounded down to the dollar, and the employer pays the difference. On S$2,345.67 that gives S$868 in all, S$469 from the employee and S$399 from the employer.
