Pixelate a face, a screen or a whole picture into blocks
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.Pixelating replaces part of a picture with large square blocks, each one the average colour of the pixels it covers, which is why the original detail cannot be rebuilt from the result. Drag boxes over faces, screens or names, or pixelate the whole picture for a retro look, and choose the block size. The picture is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Add the picture with Select images; Pixelate is already chosen.
Drag a box over the part to hide, or turn on Whole image to pixelate everything.
Raise Strength for bigger blocks; at the top a face is a handful of squares.
Press the Pixelate button, then Download the pixelated picture.
Blur or Pixelate Image hides the parts of a photo you do not want to share: faces in a crowd, a car's number plate, an address on a parcel, a name or a balance in a screenshot.
Drag a box over each thing to hide, or switch to Brush and paint over shapes a box would not fit. Then choose the effect. The preview shows the result on the picture as you work, and Undo takes back the last mark. Whole image applies the effect everywhere, which suits a blurred background or a censored thumbnail.
The photo keeps its format where the browser can write it (JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG); an iPhone HEIC photo is saved as JPG. Everything happens on your device. To remove metadata without changing the picture, use Metadata Remover; to black out text in a PDF, use Redact PDF; to cut the area out instead, use Crop Image.

Open the photo here, drag a box over the part to hide and choose Blur, then press the Blur button and Download. Paint with Brush for shapes a box does not fit. The blur is written into the pixels of a new file, and your photo never leaves your device.
Choose Pixelate, drag a box slightly larger than the face, and raise Strength until the features are only a few large squares. Each block becomes the average colour of the pixels under it, so the face cannot be rebuilt. Then press the Pixelate button and Download the new photo.
Not from this tool's output. The original pixels are replaced, not covered, and a blur also gets a trace of random noise that defeats sharpening. A very light blur or small pixel blocks over large text can still be guessed, so for text and numbers use Solid box or a high strength.
Drag a box over the plate, a little wider than the characters, and choose Pixelate or Solid box at a high strength; a light blur can leave large characters readable. Check the preview, press the button to apply it, and Download. One photo of up to 50 MB at a time.
