The date that falls a number of business days after or before a date
Estimates only, not financial advice. What you type stays on your device. Checked against sources on 1 Oct 2026.Delivery promises, response deadlines and notice periods are often written in business days. Pick the start date and the number of business days and the date it lands on appears, with weekends and the holidays you choose skipped. Counting starts the day after the start date, so 10 business days after Friday 20 November 2026 is Monday 7 December, Thanksgiving skipped.

The page opens on Add or subtract business days; set the Start date.

Read the resulting date, which counts from the day after the start date.
The Business Days Calculator does two jobs. Count gives the business days between two dates, with the calendar days, the weekend days and every holiday it took out listed by name. Add or subtract gives the date that falls a number of business days after or before a date, the way a deadline of "10 business days" is read.
Holidays. Switch on the US federal holidays to skip the eleven legal public holidays on the day they are observed: a holiday on a Saturday is taken off on the Friday before and one on a Sunday on the Monday after, so New Year's Day 2028 is observed on Friday 31 December 2027. The dates come from the Federal Holiday Calendar on this site, which follows 5 U.S.C. 6103 and the published OPM tables. Add your own holidays, such as a company shutdown or a state holiday, as dates like 2026-11-27 or 11/27/2026. A holiday on a weekend is not taken out twice. No other country's list is built in, because holidays in India, for example, differ by state and employer.
What counts. In Count, the start and end dates are both included unless you switch either off. In Add, counting starts on the day after the start date, so 5 business days after a Monday is the next Monday, and 0 business days returns the start date itself.

Count the weekdays from the start to the end date, then take out any holiday that falls on a weekday. From 1 October to 31 December 2026 there are 66 weekdays; Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas fall on weekdays, so 62 business days remain. The calculator lists each holiday it removed.
Start counting on the next day and skip weekends and holidays. From Friday 20 November 2026, the tenth business day is Monday 7 December, because Thanksgiving on 26 November is skipped. Without that holiday it would be Friday 4 December. Choose Add, enter the start date and the number, and the date appears.
Not for federal offices: the eleven US federal holidays are paid days off for federal employees. Private employers and banks choose their own holiday calendars, and some stay open on days such as Columbus Day. So the federal list is a switch here, and you can add your own dates or use them instead.
In Count mode both dates are included by default, which matches how most people count a period such as a contract or a quarter. Switch either one off to exclude it. In Add mode counting begins on the day after the start date, so 0 business days returns the start date.
