This calculator prices overtime (horas suplementarias) for an employee paid by the month in Argentina, from the Ley de Contrato de Trabajo 20.744 and the working-hours law 11.544, both read on InfoLeg, the Ministry of Justice's official database.
The limits. Law 11.544 caps work at 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week. Hours beyond the normal working day are overtime.
The surcharges. Article 201 says the employer must pay overtime, whether or not the labour authority allowed it, with a 50% surcharge on the usual pay on ordinary days and a 100% surcharge on Saturdays after 13:00, Sundays and holidays. An hour at 50% therefore pays 1.5 times the hourly value and an hour at 100% twice it.
The hourly value. The law gives no divisor for a monthly salary. The calculator divides the salary by the month's normal hours, taken as the weekly hours × 52 weeks ÷ 12 months: 208 hours for a 48-hour week, 173.33 for 40 hours. Many collective agreements fix their own divisor; type it in the divisor box and it replaces the arithmetic.
A worked example. A salary of $1,200,000 and a 48-hour week give $5,769.23 an hour. Ten hours on weekdays pay 10 × $8,653.85 = $86,538.46, and four hours on a Sunday pay 4 × $11,538.46 = $46,153.85, so the overtime adds $132,692.31 to the month.
Rest days. Article 204 forbids work from 13:00 on Saturday to midnight on Sunday, save the legal exceptions, which also give a compensatory rest of the same length.
Not included. The 8 minutes per night hour of article 200, higher rates set by a collective agreement, the monthly and yearly overtime limits of the regulations, and income tax on the extra pay.

Article 201 of the Ley de Contrato de Trabajo adds a 50% surcharge to the usual hourly pay for overtime on ordinary days, and 100% on Saturdays after 13:00, Sundays and holidays. The employer owes it whether or not the labour authority authorised the extra hours.
Divide the monthly salary by the normal hours of a month. The law sets no divisor, so the calculator uses the weekly hours times 52 weeks divided by 12 months, 208 hours for a 48-hour week. A collective agreement's own divisor can be typed instead.
Double pay. Overtime on Sundays, on holidays and on Saturdays after 13:00 carries a 100% surcharge under article 201, so each hour pays twice the hourly value. On a $1,200,000 salary and a 48-hour week, one Sunday hour pays $11,538.46.
Law 11.544 says work may not exceed 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week for anyone employed by another, with exceptions such as agriculture and domestic service. A fully night-time working day may not exceed 7 hours under article 200 of the labour law.
Article 203 says a worker is not obliged to work overtime except in cases of danger, accidents, force majeure or exceptional demands of the national economy or of the company. Article 197 bis allows a written, voluntary scheme to compensate overtime with time off, such as an hours bank.
An agreement can pay more than the law but never less. Agreements often fix the hours used to divide the monthly salary, which changes the hourly value; type that divisor in the calculator. Rates above 50% and 100% set by an agreement are not modelled.
