Wage tax starts once the yearly income after social insurance and the 132 euro work allowance passes 13,539 euros in 2026. The 496 euro traffic credit then cancels the first tax, so an employee with 14 salaries pays no monthly wage tax up to about 1,585 euros gross a month.

On 3,000 euros the Vienna salary therefore loses 7.50 euros more to social insurance, about 5.25 euros after tax.
