This calculator works out personal income tax in Bangladesh for tax year 2026-27, the year whose returns are filed now: income earned from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026, with the return due by 30 November 2026. The figures come from the National Board of Revenue's Income Tax Paripatra 2026-27 and Nirdeshika 2026-27, which explain the Finance Act 2026.
Tax-free limit by category. The first 4,00,000 taka is tax-free for a general taxpayer, 4,50,000 for women and people aged 65 or more, 5,25,000 for third gender taxpayers and persons with disability, and 5,50,000 for gazetted war-wounded freedom fighters and gazetted July warriors. A parent or guardian of a child with a disability adds 50,000 for each child.
Slabs. Above the tax-free limit the next 3,00,000 is taxed at 10%, the next 4,00,000 at 15%, the next 5,00,000 at 20%, the next 20,00,000 at 25%, and the rest at 30%.
Salary. From total salary receipts one third is exempt, at most 5,00,000 taka; the rest joins any other taxable income you type.
Investment rebate. Eligible investment such as savings certificates, provident fund, life insurance premium and listed shares reduces the tax by the least of three amounts: 3% of total income, 10% of the investment, and 7,50,000 taka. The Finance Act 2026 cut the investment share from 15% to 10% and the cap from 10 lakh to 7.5 lakh.
Minimum tax. Once income is above the tax-free limit, at least 5,000 taka is payable even after the rebate, or 1,000 taka for a first return. The NBR says the minimum is the same wherever the taxpayer lives; the old amounts by city and district no longer apply.
What it leaves out. The net-wealth surcharge, the environmental surcharge on cars, income taxed at reduced or final rates, and tax already deducted at source.

For tax year 2026-27 the first 4,00,000 taka of total income is tax-free for a general taxpayer. Women and taxpayers aged 65 or more get 4,50,000, third gender taxpayers and persons with disability 5,25,000, and gazetted war-wounded freedom fighters and July warriors 5,50,000.
A salary of 12,00,000 taka has 4,00,000 exempt, leaving 8,00,000 of total income. A general taxpayer pays nothing on the first 4,00,000, 30,000 on the next 3,00,000 and 15,000 on the last 1,00,000: 45,000 taka before the investment rebate.
The rebate is the least of three amounts: 3% of total income, 10% of eligible investment, and 7,50,000 taka. On 11,62,000 of income with 3,10,000 invested, the NBR's own example gives a rebate of 31,000, because 10% of the investment is less than 34,860.
Once total income is above the tax-free limit, at least 5,000 taka is payable, even when the rebate brings the tax lower. A new taxpayer filing for the first time pays at least 1,000 taka. The NBR states the minimum is the same in every city and district.
Tax year 2026-27 taxes the income earned in the income year from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. Returns for it are filed by 30 November 2026, and the Finance Act 2026 rates and tax-free limits apply to that income.
Yes. A parent or legal guardian of a child or dependant with a disability gets 50,000 taka more of tax-free income for each such child. When both parents are taxpayers, only one of them may claim the extra amount, according to the NBR circular.
