This calculator works out the festival bonus (উৎসব ভাতা), the Eid bonus most workers know, under the Bangladesh Labour Rules 2015 and the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 as amended in 2026. Type the basic wage, or the gross and the basic share, and the months of service; the bonus for each festival and for the year appear at once.
Who gets it. Rule 111(5) says every worker of a factory or establishment who has completed one year of continuous service gets two festival allowances a year. The Rules do not name the festivals: for most workers they are the two Eids, and for others the main festivals of their own religion, as the employer and workers agree.
How much. Each festival allowance is counted on the monthly basic wage and may not exceed it, and it is paid in addition to wages. The calculator takes one full basic as 100%; a lower share, or a higher one under a contract or settlement, can be typed. On an 8,000 taka basic, two bonuses come to 16,000 taka a year.
Basic, not gross. House rent, medical, food and transport allowances are not part of the basic. If you know only the gross, switch on the gross option and pick the basic share your employer uses (50%, 60% or 70% are common); the calculator works the basic out.
New workers. Before one year of continuous service the Rules give no bonus, and they say nothing of a part bonus. Many employers still pay one; the calculator tells you how many months are left.
Festival leave. Section 118 of the Act gives 13 days of paid festival leave each calendar year since 2026 (11 before). A worker asked to work on a festival holiday gets one substitute day off and two days' compensatory wages.
The bonus is part of salary income for tax: add it in the Bangladesh Salary Calculator or the Bangladesh Income Tax Calculator.
Rule 111(5) of the Bangladesh Labour Rules 2015 provides two festival allowances a year, each up to one month's basic wage, paid in addition to wages. A worker on a 15,000 taka basic therefore receives up to 15,000 taka at each festival, 30,000 taka over the year.
On the basic wage. Rule 111(5) caps each festival allowance at the monthly basic wage, so house rent, medical, food and transport allowances are left out. A gross salary of 30,000 taka with a 50% basic gives a bonus of up to 15,000 taka for each Eid.
The Rules require one year of continuous service before the two festival allowances become due, and they say nothing about a part bonus for a shorter period. Many employers still pay a share to newer workers by their own policy, but the Labour Rules do not require it.
Two. Rule 111(5) gives every worker with a year of continuous service two festival allowances each year. The Rules do not name the festivals; for most workers they are Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, and for others the main festivals of their own religion.
Section 118 of the Labour Act, as amended in 2026, gives every worker 13 days of paid festival leave each calendar year, up from 11. The employer fixes the dates in consultation with the workers' representatives, and a worker who works on a festival holiday gets a substitute day and two days' wages.
Yes. A festival bonus is part of the salary income an employee receives, so it is added to the year's income when the tax is worked out. The Bangladesh Salary Calculator lets you add zero, one or two bonuses to see the effect on the yearly tax deducted at source.
