Social security. CNAS takes 9% of the contribution base from the employee; the employer adds 25% and social services 0.5%, 34.5% in all. Article 73 deducts the employee's share before income tax.
The IRG scale. Article 104 taxes yearly income at 0% up to 240,000 DA, 23% to 480,000, 27% to 960,000, 30% to 1,920,000, 33% to 3,840,000 and 35% above. Wages are taxed every month on that scale divided by twelve, so the 0% band ends at 20,000 DA a month.
The reductions. The tax is cut by 40%, never less than 1,000 DA and never more than 1,500 DA a month. Taxable income up to 30,000 DA is fully exempt. Between 30,000 and 35,000 DA a second reduction applies through the formula IRG × 137/51 − 27,925/8. Workers with a disability and retired workers of the general scheme get a separate reduction up to 42,500 DA instead: IRG × 93/61 − 81,213/41.
A worked example. 60,000 DA gross: CNAS 5,400 DA, taxable 54,600 DA. The scale gives 4,600 DA on the 23% band and 3,942 DA on the 27% band, 8,542 DA. The reduction is capped at 1,500 DA, so IRG is 7,042 DA and the net salary 47,558 DA.
Not included. Allowances outside the contribution base such as panier and transport, bonuses paid other than monthly (taxed at a flat 10%), and special schemes. Official payroll tables that round to the ten dinars can differ by a few dinars.

In 2026 a 60,000 DA gross salary pays 5,400 DA to CNAS and 7,042 DA of IRG, leaving 47,558 DA net. The IRG is 8,542 DA on the monthly scale less the 1,500 DA maximum reduction.
Article 104 of the direct tax code applies the yearly scale brought to the month to the salary less the 9% CNAS share: 0% up to 20,000 DA, then 23%, 27%, 30%, 33% and 35%. The tax is then reduced by 40%, between 1,000 and 1,500 DA a month.
No IRG is due when the taxable monthly income does not exceed 30,000 DA. Between 30,000 and 35,000 DA a second reduction keeps the tax low through the formula IRG × 137/51 − 27,925/8, so the tax rises gradually instead of jumping.
CNAS sets total contributions at 34.5% of the base: 9% paid by the employee, 25% by the employer and 0.5% by social services. The employee's 9% is withheld from the gross salary and deducted before IRG is worked out.
Yes. Workers with a motor or mental disability, blind or deaf-mute workers and retired workers of the general scheme earning between 30,000 and 42,500 DA taxable use the formula IRG × 93/61 − 81,213/41 instead of the second reduction.
Allowances outside the contribution base such as panier and transport, bonuses paid other than monthly at the 10% flat rate, and special schemes are not modelled. Payroll tables rounded to the ten dinars can give a result a few dinars different.
