Compare PDF shows what changed between two versions of a document: a contract that came back from the other side, a revised quote, a new edition of a policy. It checks every page in two ways and lists only the pages that differ.
Words. The text of each page is read from both files and compared word by word. Removed words are struck through and added words highlighted, so a changed amount, date or clause stands out. Spacing and line breaks from the page layout are ignored, so a paragraph that only reflowed is not reported as changed.
Looks. Each page of both files is also drawn at the same width and compared pixel by pixel. Areas that differ are gathered into boxes and drawn over both versions. This catches what the words cannot: a new logo, a moved signature line, a replaced chart, a different colour. A page whose words are the same but whose look changed is listed as Looks different.
Pages. Pages are paired by number, page 1 with page 1. Extra pages at the end of either file are listed as only in the first or only in the second file. If a page was inserted in the middle, later pages shift by one and show as changed, which the word marks make clear.
Report. Download report saves a plain-text file listing every changed page, with removed words in [- -] and added words in {+ +}, the marks diff tools use, ready to attach to an email or keep with the file.
Limits. Up to 100 MB per file and the first 300 pages. Scanned PDFs have no words to compare, only the look. Password-protected files need Unlock PDF first.
Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Both. The words on each page are compared one by one, so an edited figure or clause is marked. Each page is also drawn at the same size in both files and compared pixel by pixel, so a changed logo, picture, signature line or colour is boxed even when no word changed.
Pages are compared by number: page 5 with page 5. If a page was inserted or deleted in the middle, every later page moves by one and shows as changed. The summary still says which file has extra pages, and the word marks show the shift clearly.
Partly. A scan holds pictures of pages, not words, so no word changes can be listed, but the pixel comparison still boxes areas that differ. Two scans of the same paper rarely line up exactly, so expect many boxes; run them through OCR first for a word comparison.
Up to 100 MB each, and the first 300 pages are compared. A long document takes a little time because each page is drawn twice; a progress bar shows the page being checked. Password-protected PDFs need their password removed with Unlock PDF first.
No. Both files are read and drawn by your own browser on your device, and the report is made there too. Nothing reaches a server, so contracts, offers and drafts under negotiation stay private. The page keeps working offline once it has loaded.
