This calculator works out how many days of annual leave a private-sector worker in Saudi Arabia has earned and what the unused days are worth, under Articles 109 and 111 of the Labour Law as the Ministry of Human Resources publishes them.
How much leave. Article 109 gives at least 21 days of paid leave a year, increased to at least 30 days once the worker has spent five consecutive years with the employer. A contract may give more.
Taking it, not cashing it. During employment, leave has to be taken in the year it falls due; it cannot be swapped for money. The employer sets the dates with at least 30 days' notice and may postpone it within limits.
On leaving. Article 111 pays the wage for every accrued day not taken, and leave pay for the part of the final year worked, in proportion. The calculator counts service in whole years by anniversary, then gives the year in progress 21 or 30 days in proportion to its days over 365.
Which wage. The Labour Law defines "wage" as the actual wage: basic pay plus housing, transport and other regular allowances. A month is 30 days, so one day of leave is worth the actual wage ÷ 30.
A worked example. From 1 March 2021 to 31 October 2026 is 5 years and 245 days. Five full years are done, so the current year earns 30 days: 30 × 245 ÷ 365 = 20.14 days. On SAR 9,000 a day is worth SAR 300, so the part-year leave pays SAR 6,041.10. Days carried from earlier years are added, and days already taken this year come off.
Not included. Contracts that give more, unpaid absences, leave postponed beyond the law's limits and part-time arrangements.

Article 109 of the Labour Law gives at least 21 days of paid annual leave a year. After five consecutive years with the same employer the minimum rises to 30 days a year. A contract or company policy may give more, but never less than these figures.
Article 111 pays the wage for every accrued leave day not taken and a proportional amount for the part of the final year worked. Each day is worth the actual monthly wage divided by 30, so 20.14 days on SAR 9,000 come to SAR 6,041.10.
On the actual wage. The Labour Law says that wage means the actual wage, which is the basic pay plus housing, transport and the other regular allowances. Leave pay therefore uses the total monthly wage divided by 30 days for each day.
Once you have completed five consecutive years with the same employer. From the sixth year of service onwards, every leave year earns at least 30 days instead of 21. The calculator switches to 30 days as soon as five full years lie between the start date and the last day.
No. Article 109 says the worker must take leave in the year it is due and may not give it up or receive cash in lieu during employment. The employer may postpone it for up to 90 days, or longer with the worker's written consent.
Contracts giving more than the legal minimum, unpaid absences that may not count as service, leave postponed beyond the limits in Article 110 and part-time or Ramadan arrangements are not modelled. Days carried over come from your own records, so check them with the employer.
