Private-sector workers in Saudi Arabia are owed an end-of-service award (مكافأة نهاية الخدمة) when their contract ends. This calculator applies the Labor Law's rules, as the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) publishes them, to your wage and your dates.
The award. Half a month's wage for each of the first five years of service and one month's wage for each year after that, worked on the last wage. Part of a year counts in proportion to the time worked.
Which wage. The law's wage is the basic wage plus the other increases the worker is due under the contract, such as housing and transport allowances. Employer and worker may agree to leave commissions and percentages out. Because contracts differ, the wage is yours to enter.
Resignation. A worker who resigns receives part of the award, by length of service:
| Service when resigning | Share of the award |
|---|---|
| Under 2 years | None |
| 2 to 5 years | One third |
| More than 5, under 10 years | Two thirds |
| 10 years or more | All of it |
When the contract ends or the employer ends it, the whole award is due. It is also due in full to a worker who leaves because of force majeure, and to a woman who ends her contract within six months of marriage or three months of giving birth.
Worked example. A wage of SAR 12,000 from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2025 is eight years: 2.5 months for the first five and 3 months for the next three, 5.5 months in all, SAR 66,000. Resigning instead would leave two thirds, SAR 44,000.
What it does not do. Service is counted in Gregorian years from your dates. It does not decide whether a dismissal was lawful, deduct money you owe the employer, or cover government or domestic workers. For a dispute, ask HRSD or a lawyer.

The award is half a month's last wage for each of the first five years and one month's wage for each later year, with part years paid in proportion. Eight years on SAR 12,000 is 2.5 + 3 = 5.5 months, SAR 66,000, when the contract ends or the employer ends it.
A resigning worker gets nothing under two years of service, one third of the award from two to five years, two thirds after more than five and under ten years, and the whole award from ten years. Eight years on SAR 12,000 gives two thirds of SAR 66,000, which is SAR 44,000.
No, on the wage as the Labor Law defines it: the basic wage plus the other increases due under the contract, such as housing and transport allowances. Employer and worker may agree to leave commissions and percentages out, so check your contract before entering the figure.
The full award is due when the contract ends or the employer ends it, when a worker leaves because of force majeure, and when a woman ends her contract within six months of marriage or three months of giving birth. After ten years of service even a resignation keeps all of it.
Ten years earn 5 × 0.5 + 5 × 1 = 7.5 months of the last wage. On SAR 10,000 a month that is SAR 75,000, and at ten years the same amount is kept on resignation as well, because the reduction for resigning stops at ten years of service.
Yes. The law pays for portions of a year in proportion to the time worked. Three years and six months is counted as about 3.5 years, so on SAR 9,000 the full award is roughly 1.75 months, close to SAR 15,700 before any reduction for resigning.
