Saudi Arabia does not tax employees' salaries. This calculator shows the deductions the law does make, so a Saudi salary can be compared fairly with pay in other countries.
Expatriates. Nothing is deducted. The GOSI annuities branch and SANED unemployment insurance cover Saudi nationals only. Expatriates are covered by the occupational hazards branch, but its 2% contribution is paid entirely by the employer. The end-of-service award owed under the Labour Law is also an employer cost, paid when the contract ends.
Saudi nationals. GOSI takes two contributions from the contributory wage, which is basic pay plus housing allowance, not the other allowances. The annuities (pension) branch costs the employee 9%, matched by 9% from the employer, and SANED costs 0.75% from each side, 9.75% for the employee in all. The contributory wage is capped at SAR 45,000 a month, so above that the deduction stops rising.
The 2024 law is an input. A new Social Insurance Law applies to Saudis who first started contributing on or after 3 July 2024, with an annuities rate that rises over the years. GOSI's published schedule could not be read from a government page on 29 September 2026, so the calculator keeps 9% as the default and lets you enter the rate shown on your own GOSI statement.
What it does not do. It does not cover civil servants under the public pension scheme, GCC nationals working in Saudi Arabia, contributors over 60, minimum contributory wages or employer costs. Residence-permit fees such as the expatriate levy are not salary deductions and are not included. Every figure and its source are listed on the page, checked on 29 September 2026. An estimate, not financial advice.
No. Saudi Arabia charges no personal income tax on employment income, for Saudi nationals or for expatriates. An expatriate earning SAR 180,000 a year keeps the full amount. Saudi nationals pay GOSI contributions of 9.75% of basic pay plus housing, SAR 17,550 a year on that salary when all of it counts.
The employee pays 9% to the annuities branch and 0.75% to SANED unemployment insurance, 9.75% of the contributory wage. The employer pays the same 9% and 0.75% plus 2% for occupational hazards. The contributory wage is basic pay plus housing allowance, up to SAR 45,000 a month, with a SAR 1,500 minimum for the annuities branch.
Not from their salary. The annuities branch and SANED apply to Saudi nationals only. Expatriates are covered by the occupational hazards branch, whose 2% contribution the employer pays in full, so an expatriate employee's GOSI deduction is zero according to the GOSI contributor rules.
SANED is the unemployment insurance scheme run by GOSI. It is compulsory for Saudi nationals covered by the annuities branch and stops at age 60. The subscription is 1.5% of the contributory wage, split equally: 0.75% from the employee and 0.75% from the employer. It pays compensation for a limited period after an involuntary job loss.
A new Social Insurance Law applies to Saudis who first joined on or after 3 July 2024, while existing contributors stay under the previous law. The new law raises the annuities rate step by step. The schedule could not be verified on a GOSI page, so the calculator asks for the rate on your GOSI statement.
Only the basic wage and the housing allowance paid in cash, or housing valued at two months of basic salary when the employer provides it. Transport and other allowances, overtime and bonuses do not count. Lower the share of gross in the calculator if your pay includes them.
