Focus for 25 minutes, rest for 5, with a long break after four and a task list
Processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Updated on 24 Oct 2026.A Pomodoro timer splits work into 25 minute focus sessions separated by 5 minute breaks, with a 15 minute long break after every 4 sessions. Press Start, work until the sound, then rest. Lengths, the long break interval, auto-start, sound and notifications can all be changed, and nothing leaves your browser.
Type the task you will work on and press Add; it becomes the current task.
Press Start and work until the 25 minute Focus timer ends and the sound plays.
Take the 5 minute Short break; after every fourth focus session a 15 minute Long break comes instead.
Turn on Start the next phase by itself to run the cycle hands-free, and change the lengths under Lengths and cycle.
The Pomodoro Technique, devised by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s and named after a tomato-shaped kitchen timer, breaks work into short, timed sessions. You commit to one task for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break, and after four sessions take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes. The fixed end point makes it easier to start and to ignore interruptions until the bell.
Press Start to begin a focus session. When it ends the timer plays a short sound, announces the next phase to screen readers and, if you allowed it, shows a browser notification. Turn on Start the next phase by itself and the cycle runs without a tap: focus, short break, focus, short break, focus, short break, focus, long break. The counter shows where you are before the long break and how many focus sessions you have finished today.
Each phase is timed from the clock, not by counting ticks, so it ends on time even though browsers slow timers in tabs you are not looking at. If the page was hidden through several phases with auto-start on, it catches up and starts each phase from the moment the previous one actually ended, so the schedule does not drift. The sound is booked on the browser's audio clock when you press Start. On an iPhone, iOS 17 and later play it with the silent switch on, and the page has to stay on screen.
Add the tasks you plan to work on; each completed focus session is credited to the current task. Tasks, today's count and your settings are stored in this browser only. Focus can run from 1 to 180 minutes and the long break can come after 2 to 12 sessions.
To time something else, use the Online Stopwatch, which also has a countdown timer. To plan the weeks ahead, print a Printable Calendar.
The Pomodoro Technique alternates 25 minutes of focused work on one task with a 5 minute break. After four focus sessions you take a long break of 15 to 30 minutes. Each session has a fixed end, which makes starting easier and lets you put interruptions off until the timer rings.
Yes. Open Lengths and cycle and set the focus session from 1 to 180 minutes, the short break from 1 to 60, the long break from 1 to 120, and the number of focus sessions before a long break from 2 to 12. A new length applies at once to a phase that has not started.
Yes. Every phase is timed from the clock rather than by counting ticks, so it ends on time even though browsers slow down hidden tabs. With auto-start on, a page hidden through several phases catches up and times each one from when the previous phase really ended.
Press Turn on notifications and allow them when the browser asks; the site never asks on its own. A notification then appears when a phase ends while the tab is hidden. If you blocked them earlier, allow notifications again in the browser's site settings for this page.
Safari on iOS 16 and earlier mutes web page sound while the ring and silent switch is on silent; iOS 17 and later play the timer sound anyway. iOS also pauses a page when the screen locks, so keep the timer on screen and press Keep screen on.
Tasks, the count of focus sessions finished today and your settings are saved in this browser's local storage on your device. Nothing is sent to a server and there is no account. Clearing the browser's site data, or using a private window, removes them.
