This calculator works out the end-of-service gratuity (مكافأة نهاية الخدمة) of Article 32 of Jordan's Labour Law No. 8 of 1996, as the Ministry of Labour publishes it with amendments to July 2025.
Who gets it. Article 32 applies to a worker who is not subject to the Social Security Law and whose service ends for any reason, resignation and dismissal alike. Most private-sector employees are registered with the Social Security Corporation; for them the employer owes nothing under Article 32, because their end-of-service benefits come from the Corporation. Switch on "Covered by social security" and the calculator shows 0 with that reason.
The formula. One month of the last wage for each year of actual service, and a proportional amount for part of a year. The calculator counts whole years by anniversary and pays the remaining days over 365. Under a year, the proportional share is still owed.
The wage. Article 2 counts everything earned for the work in cash or kind plus every entitlement the law, the contract, the internal rules or settled practice pays, but not overtime. For commission or piece pay, Article 32 uses the monthly average of the last twelve months, or of the whole service if shorter.
A worked example. From 1 February 2019 to 31 August 2026 is 7 years and 212 days. At JOD 650 a month: 650 × 7 = JOD 4,550, plus 650 × 212 ÷ 365 = JOD 377.534, total JOD 4,927.534.
Gaps and funds. Breaks of up to 60 days between jobs count as continuous service, so enter the whole span. Money from an employer's savings, provident or pension fund is paid on top (Article 33).
Not included. Service split between covered and uncovered periods, better contract terms, tax and the Corporation's own benefits.

Article 32 of the Labour Law pays one month of the last wage for each year of actual service and a proportional amount for part of a year. JOD 650 a month over 7 years and 212 days gives JOD 4,550 plus JOD 377.534, or JOD 4,927.534.
Not under Article 32. The article grants the gratuity only to workers who are not subject to the Social Security Law. Registered workers look to the Social Security Corporation for their end-of-service benefits instead, and the employer owes a gratuity only if a contract or collective agreement promises one.
Yes. Article 32 gives a proportional gratuity for fractions of a year. The calculator divides the days beyond the last full year by 365, so six months of service on JOD 500 is worth about JOD 247.945.
The last wage, meaning all pay and regular entitlements the law, the contract or settled practice provides, but not overtime. Where pay is wholly or partly commission or piece rate, the monthly average of the last twelve months is used instead.
No. Article 32 applies when service ends for any reason, so a worker outside social security keeps the gratuity after resigning as well as after dismissal. Gaps of up to 60 days between jobs count as continuous service.
Service split between periods with and without social security, better terms in a contract or collective agreement, tax, savings or provident fund payouts under Article 33, and the Social Security Corporation's own benefits are not calculated here.
