This calculator works out the monthly contributions to Oman's Social Protection Fund (SPF) for an Omani employee working in Oman, from the Social Protection Law (Royal Decree 52/2023) as the Fund publishes it in English, read on 20 Oct 2026. The rates may have changed since.
What counts as the wage. Article 1 of the law defines the wage as the gross salary or basic wage plus all allowances and stipends, so contributions are worked on the whole monthly pay, not the basic wage alone.
The five branches.
| Branch | Worker | Employer | Base |
|---|---|---|---|
| Old age, disability and death (art. 70) | 7.5% | 11% | wage up to OMR 3,000 |
| Work injuries and occupational diseases (art. 90) | 0% | 1% | wage up to OMR 3,000 |
| Employment security (art. 116) | 0.5% | 0.5% | the wage |
| Sick and extraordinary leave (art. 123) | 0% | 1% | the wage |
| Maternity leave (art. 128) | 0% | 1% | the wage |
The Fund's FAQ dates the first three from 1 January 2024, maternity from 1 July 2024 and sick leave from 1 July 2025.
A worked example. On OMR 1,000 a month the worker pays OMR 75 for old age and OMR 5 for job security, OMR 80 in all, and takes home OMR 920. The employer pays OMR 110 + 10 + 5 + 10 + 10 = OMR 145.
Above OMR 3,000. Article 52 sets the ceiling for the first two branches, but it also says contributions are calculated from the monthly wage, and the Executive Regulation moves contributions above the ceiling into a savings account. The texts do not say plainly whether an ordinary employee pays on the part above OMR 3,000, so the calculator stops at the ceiling and shows the extra on the full wage beside it.
Not included. Part months (the law counts contributions by the day), part-time and hourly workers, the self-employed, Omanis working in the GCC or abroad, and non-Omani workers, whose branches start on dates the Fund's board sets by decision.

An Omani employee working in Oman pays 8% of the monthly wage to the Social Protection Fund: 7.5% for old age, disability and death and 0.5% for job security. On OMR 1,000 a month the deduction is OMR 80, leaving OMR 920. The wage includes the basic pay and all allowances.
The employer pays 14.5% of an Omani employee's wage: 11% for old age, disability and death, 1% for work injuries, 0.5% for job security, 1% for sick leave and 1% for maternity leave. On a wage of OMR 1,000 a month the employer's share is OMR 145.
Article 52 of the Social Protection Law sets a contribution wage ceiling of OMR 3,000 a month for the old-age and work-injury branches. Job security, sick leave and maternity are worked on the whole wage. Above OMR 3,000 the calculator stops at the ceiling and shows what the full wage would add.
Not under this calculator. The law applies its work-injury, sick-leave and maternity branches to non-Omani workers in the categories and on the dates the Fund's board decides, and the Fund says those dates will be announced in advance. No such decision was read on 20 Oct 2026, so only Omani employees are worked out.
All of them. Article 1 of the Social Protection Law defines the wage as the gross salary or basic wage plus all allowances and stipends. Housing, transport and other cash allowances therefore count, unlike the end-of-service gratuity, which the Labour Law works out on the basic wage.
The Fund works contributions out by the day, so a month in which you joined or left gives a smaller amount. Part-time and hourly workers, the self-employed and Omanis working abroad follow other rules, and the Fund uses the wage your employer registered, which can differ from this month's pay.
