This calculator works out the end-of-service gratuity (مكافأة نهاية الخدمة) owed under Oman's Labour Law, issued by Royal Decree 53/2023, from the text published by the Ministry of Labour.
The rule. Article 61 gives workers who are not covered by the Social Protection Law at least one basic wage for each year of service. Part years earn the same rate in proportion to the time served, and the last basic wage is the base.
Basic wage only. Article 1 defines the basic wage as the cash pay agreed in the contract plus the periodic increment. Housing, transport and other allowances belong to the total wage, so they are left out.
A worked example. Start 1 March 2019, last working day 31 August 2026: 7 full years and 184 days. On OMR 450 a month, 450 × (7 + 184 ÷ 365) is OMR 3,376.849.
How days are counted. Whole years run from the start date to the day after your last working day, by anniversary. The remaining days are divided by 365. Special unpaid leave and unpaid child-care leave are not counted (Articles 80 and 83), so type those days and they come off.
Who is covered. Omani nationals are covered by the Social Protection Fund instead, so the calculator shows zero for them. A worker dismissed for one of the misconduct reasons in Article 40 loses the gratuity. The rule applies until the savings scheme of the Social Protection Law starts.
Not included. An approved employer savings scheme that replaces the gratuity (Article 48), amounts the employer may lawfully set off, and contracts that pay more. Treat the figure as an estimate and check your contract.

Article 61 of the 2023 Labour Law gives at least one month of basic wage for each year of service, and part years in proportion. The last basic wage is the base. For example, OMR 450 over 7 years and 184 days gives 450 × 7.504, or OMR 3,376.849.
Gratuity is paid on the basic wage only. Article 1 defines the basic wage as the cash pay agreed in the contract plus the periodic increment, while allowances such as housing and transport belong to the total wage. Type your last basic wage, not your full package.
Omani nationals are covered by the Social Protection Law, so Article 61 applies to workers who are not covered by it, in practice expatriates. Omanis build pension and other benefits through the Social Protection Fund instead, so this calculator shows zero for them.
No. Articles 80 and 83 say special unpaid leave and unpaid child-care leave count as part of the employment but not when working out the gratuity. Enter those days and the calculator takes them off the service before applying the basic wage.
Only in the cases listed in Article 40, which allows dismissal without notice and without gratuity, for example forged documents, serious misconduct, or more than 7 consecutive days of unexcused absence. Resignation alone does not remove the gratuity under Article 61.
Article 61 says the gratuity applies until the savings scheme of the Social Protection Law starts. Employers may then move the service earned so far into the scheme or pay it out, worked out on the basic wage at the settlement date.
