This calculator works out the annual leave a private-sector worker in Qatar has earned and the leave salary for the days not taken, from Labour Law No. 14 of 2004 as the Al Meezan legal portal publishes it.
How much leave. Article 79 gives a worker who has completed a full continuous year paid annual leave of at least three weeks (21 days) while service is under five years, and at least four weeks (28 days) from five years on. A worker is also entitled to leave for fractions of the year, in proportion to the time served.
Which wage. Article 72 says leave pay is worked out on the basic wage on the date it falls due. Article 1 defines the basic salary as the pay for the work, including the annual allowance only: housing, transport and other allowances do not count. For piece workers the average of the last three months is used.
A day of leave. The law does not set a divisor; the usual practice, also used by this site's Qatar end-of-service calculator, is the monthly basic ÷ 30.
On leaving. Leave cannot be waived, and Article 81 pays cash equal to the wage for every leave day due when the contract ends before it is taken.
A worked example. From 1 March 2021 to 31 October 2026 is 5 years and 245 days. Five full years are done, so the current year earns 28 days: 28 × 245 ÷ 365 = 18.79 days. On QAR 9,000 basic a day is worth QAR 300, so the leave salary is QAR 5,638.36. Carried days are added and days taken this year come off.
Postponing. Article 80 lets the employer split the leave into at most two parts and, at the worker's written request, carry up to half of it into the next year.
Not included. Contracts that give more, piece-rate averages, unpaid absences and Article 80 postponements.

Article 79 of the Labour Law gives at least three weeks, or 21 days, of paid annual leave a year to a worker with under five years of service, and at least four weeks, or 28 days, to a worker with five years or more. Contracts may give more.
Yes. Article 72 calculates the wage during annual leave on the basic wage at the date the leave falls due. The basic salary includes the annual allowance but not housing, transport or other allowances, so QAR 9,000 basic gives QAR 300 a day at the usual divisor of 30.
Article 81 entitles the worker to cash equal to the wage for every annual leave day due if the contract ends before the leave is taken, whatever the reason for leaving. Leave for the final part year is earned in proportion to the time served, as Article 79 says.
Once your service reaches five years with the same employer. Article 79 gives three weeks to a worker whose service is under five years and four weeks to a worker with five years or more, so the calculator switches to 28 days a year after five full years.
The full entitlement follows a full continuous year of service, but Article 79 also grants leave for fractions of the year in proportion to the time served. Six months of service at three weeks a year earns about 10.4 days of leave.
Contracts that give more than the legal minimum, the three-month average used for piece workers, unpaid absences and leave carried into the next year under Article 80 are not modelled. Days carried over come from your own records, so check them with your employer.
