Gross to net pay country by country, plus CTC to in-hand, PF, gratuity and notice period for India
Everything here runs in your browser. Files are never uploaded.A salary is quoted gross almost everywhere, and what reaches the bank depends on the country's income tax and social insurance. These calculators take a gross salary to net pay for India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Japan, China, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, each for the tax year it names and with its official sources listed, and a comparison puts two of them side by side. For India they also cover the CTC on an offer letter, the provident fund, gratuity and what is owed to you when you leave.
Each country calculator starts from a yearly gross salary and works through that country's income tax and the employee's social contributions for the tax year it names, with the official sources on the page: the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Japan, China and Singapore Income Tax Calculators, and the UAE and Saudi Salary Tax Calculators for the two Gulf countries. Salary Tax Comparison by Country puts the same salary through two of them and gives the salary needed in one to match the take-home pay of the other.
Salary Calculator breaks a CTC into basic, HRA, the employer's provident fund, gratuity, bonus and whatever is left as special allowance, then deducts your own provident fund, professional tax and income tax to reach a monthly take-home. Every assumption is a box you can change, because your offer letter decides the split and no formula can.
Income Tax Calculator puts the old and new regimes side by side with the slab-wise working shown. Under the old regime, the HRA exemption and your provident fund contribution reduce taxable income; under the new one they do not, and the lower slabs have to make up for it. Which wins depends on how much you genuinely claim.
EPF Calculator projects the provident fund balance at retirement from both contributions and compounding, and separates the part of the employer's share that goes to the pension scheme instead of your balance. Gratuity Calculator works out the lump sum after long service, with the tax-free portion shown separately.
Notice Period Calculator gives the last working day from the day you resign, and what a shortfall would cost if you leave sooner. Leave Encashment Calculator values the unused earned leave that is paid out, and how much of it survives tax. Retirement Date Calculator gives the last day of service from a date of birth under the rule your employer uses.
Two offers with the same CTC are not the same offer. A higher basic pay means a larger provident fund and a larger gratuity, so more of the package is deferred and less arrives monthly. A lower basic means more cash now and less built up. Neither is better in the abstract; what matters is which one you need, and the only way to see the difference is to run both.

India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Japan, China, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, each on its own page with that country's rates. Salary Tax Comparison by Country takes any two of them for the same salary.
Because CTC counts what you cost the employer, not what you are paid. The employer provident fund contribution and the gratuity set aside are inside it and reach you later or not at all, and your own PF, professional tax and income tax come off what is left.
It depends what you need. A higher basic means a bigger provident fund and a bigger gratuity, so more of the package is saved for later and less arrives each month. A lower basic gives more cash now and builds less.
Normally after five years of continuous service with the same employer, or earlier on death or disablement. The amount is fifteen days of pay for every year served, worked out on a twenty-six day month.
The new regime wins for most people who claim few deductions, because its slabs are wider. The old one can still win if you claim HRA, provident fund, insurance and a home loan interest deduction together. Run both with your own numbers; the difference is often a few thousand rupees.
Indian appointment letters almost always allow it, usually at monthly pay divided by thirty for each day short. Which monthly pay, and whether unused leave can offset the shortfall, are things your contract says rather than the law.
No. They follow the published rules and show their working, but your payslip, your offer letter and your employer's policy govern. Confirm anything you file with a qualified professional.
