This calculator works out the end-of-service remuneration (leaving indemnity) of non-Bahraini workers in the private sector, from the Regulation published by the Social Insurance Organization (SIO) under Decision No. 109 of 2023.
The rule. Article 9 gives half a month's wages for each of the first three years of employment and one month's wages for each later year. Part years are paid in proportion to the time served, so this calculator divides the remaining days by 365.
The wage. Article 10 uses the last wage. Article 1 defines the wage as the contract pay payable periodically, plus any increases and the social allowance.
A worked example. Start 1 June 2019, last working day 31 August 2026: 7 years and 92 days. Three years at half a month make 1.5 months, and 4.252 later years add 4.252 months. On BHD 600 that is 5.752 × 600, or BHD 3,451.233.
Who pays. Since 1 March 2024 the employer funds the remuneration through SIO: 4.2% of wages a month for the first three years, 8.4% after. SIO pays it at the end of service, never more than the contributions paid. Service before 1 March 2024 falls under the Labour Law for the Private Sector (Article 14), so the calculator shows that part separately; it applies the same rates to it as an estimate.
Who is covered. Every non-Bahraini worker in the private sector, whatever the contract. Nationals of GCC states covered by the unified GCC insurance-protection rules are excepted, and Bahrainis build pension rights instead.
Not included. The contribution cap when contributions were missed or the wage fell, and Decree-Law 44 of 2026, issued on 10 October 2026, whose text was not yet on SIO's site.

Article 9 of the SIO Regulation gives half a month of the last wage for each of the first three years of employment and one month for each later year, with part years in proportion. BHD 600 over 7 years and 92 days gives 5.752 months, or BHD 3,451.233.
Since 1 March 2024 employers pay monthly contributions to the Social Insurance Organization: 4.2% of wages for the first three years of a worker's service and 8.4% after. SIO pays the remuneration when the service ends, up to the contributions it received.
Yes. The Regulation defines the wage as the amount in the employment contract paid periodically, plus any increases and the social allowance. Other one-off payments are not in that definition. The last wage is the base for the whole period of service.
Article 14 says service before the Regulation came into force on 1 March 2024 falls under the Labour Law for the Private Sector, Law 36 of 2012, and stays the employer's to pay. The calculator shows that part separately and estimates it at the Regulation's rates.
No. Article 3 excepts nationals of GCC states who fall under the unified GCC regulations on insurance protection for nationals working in another member state. They keep their own country's pension coverage instead, so the calculator shows zero when that switch is on.
Article 10 says SIO pays no more than the contributions paid on the worker's behalf. At 4.2% and 8.4% a month, contributions on a steady wage cover the remuneration, so the cap matters mainly when contributions were missed or paid on a lower wage.
