Private-sector workers in Kuwait are owed an end-of-service indemnity (مكافأة نهاية الخدمة) when their contract ends. This calculator applies Articles 51 to 53 of Law No. 6 of 2010 on Labour in the Private Sector to your wage and your dates, for workers paid by the month.
The indemnity. Fifteen days' wage for each of the first five years and one month's wage for each year after that, with part years in proportion, never more than one and a half years' wage in total. The wage is the last wage, and it includes the basic pay plus the allowances, bonuses and cash benefits paid regularly. Since Law 85 of 2017 the employer may no longer deduct its social-security contributions from it.
A day's wage. The law does not fix it. Kuwaiti practice divides the monthly wage by 26 working days, which makes 15 days about 0.58 of a month; some employers divide by 30, which makes it half a month. The page offers both.
Resignation. A worker who ends a contract with no fixed term receives part of the indemnity, by length of service:
| Service when resigning | Share of the indemnity |
|---|---|
| Under 3 years | None |
| 3 to under 5 years | Half |
| 5 to under 10 years | Two thirds |
| 10 years or more | All of it |
The whole indemnity is due when the employer ends the contract, when a fixed-term contract runs out, when the worker leaves because the employer broke the contract or the law, on death, disability, illness, bankruptcy or closure, and when a woman resigns within one year of her marriage. A dismissal under Article 41 (a), for a serious loss caused by the worker's fault, fraud or disclosed secrets, ends the right to it.
Worked example. KWD 1,000 a month for eight years at ÷ 26: 15 × 38.462 × 5 = 2,884.615, plus 3 months of 1,000, KWD 5,884.615. Resigning would leave two thirds, KWD 3,923.077.
What it does not do. Day, week, hour and piece workers have their own scale (10 and 15 days, capped at a year), and debts owed are not deducted.

Kuwait's Labour Law 6/2010 pays 15 days' wage for each of the first five years and one month's wage for each later year, with part years in proportion, up to 18 months' wage. Eight years on KWD 1,000, with a day's wage of 1,000 ÷ 26, come to KWD 5,884.615.
A worker who resigns from a contract with no fixed term gets nothing under three years, half the indemnity from three to five years, two thirds from five to ten years and all of it from ten years. Eight years on KWD 1,000 leave two thirds of 5,884.615, which is KWD 3,923.077.
No. Article 55 of Law 6/2010 defines the wage as the basic pay plus the allowances, bonuses, grants and cash benefits paid regularly, and Article 57 takes the last wage. A worker on KWD 700 basic and KWD 300 of fixed allowances has the indemnity worked on KWD 1,000.
The indemnity for a monthly-paid worker may not exceed one and a half years' wage, 18 months in total. With a day's wage of monthly ÷ 26, the cap is reached after about 20 years of service, so 25 years on KWD 1,000 earn KWD 18,000, the same as 21 years.
The full indemnity is due when the employer ends the contract, when a fixed-term contract expires without renewal, when the worker leaves because of the employer's breach, on death, disability, illness, bankruptcy or closure, and when a woman resigns within one year of marriage. After ten years even a resignation keeps 100% of it.
Labour Law 6/2010 does not say. Kuwaiti practice divides the monthly wage by 26 working days, so 15 days on KWD 1,000 are KWD 576.923; some employers divide by 30, which gives KWD 500. The later years are paid a full month's wage either way.
